Interactive Industrial Model for PwC | MTC Modellbau®
MTC Modellbau® is developing and manufacturing an interactive maintenance and factory model for the PwC Experience Center. The project combines professional industrial model making with mechanics, electronics and digital software control.
On a compact footprint of approximately 70 × 50 cm, a miniature production facility with several process stations is being created. The aim is to make industrial processes as well as different operating and maintenance conditions physically visible and interactively accessible.
Functional Model of a Complete Production Facility
The interactive industrial model represents a small production environment with several interconnected stations. Various mechanical and electronic functions are integrated into the model.

The model is therefore much more than a visual representation of a factory. It is a functional model that can demonstrate different operating conditions within a production facility.
Interactive Visualization of Maintenance Processes
A key focus of the project is the visualization of different operating and maintenance conditions.
The individual stations can display different statuses:
🟢 Normal operation – green lighting and regular movement
🔵 Maintenance – blue lighting and adjusted operating mode
🔴 Fault / downtime – red lighting and no movement
⚪ Idle mode – white lighting without movement
This allows abstract information from a digital application to be transferred directly into the physical world.
Connecting Software with the Physical Model
One of the key features of this factory model is the interface between the customer’s desktop application and the physical model.
Individual stations can be controlled via the software, allowing different operating conditions and scenarios to be triggered. Depending on the selected scenario, lighting, conveyor systems and other moving components react accordingly.
The result is an interactive demonstration platform that makes production, maintenance and fault scenarios easy to understand and visually engaging.
A Physical Digital Twin You Can Experience
This project demonstrates how physical model making and digital applications can be seamlessly combined.
Instead of displaying production processes exclusively on a screen, digital information is made visible directly on the physical model through lighting, movement and mechanical functions.
The interactive factory model therefore becomes a physical digital twin that makes complex industrial processes intuitive, tangible and impressive to experience.

Depending on the requirements, we integrate moving components, motors, conveyor systems, LED lighting, sensors, electronic controls and interfaces to external software applications.
From concept development and 3D design to mechanics, electronics and final production, each model is individually engineered for its specific application.
With the interactive maintenance model for the PwC Experience Center, we are creating another project in which physical model making and digital technology merge into a unique interactive experience.
